Box on Rockers
Made primarily from an old 8 x8 clear Douglas Fir beam, this leaf shape inspired box rocks on a set of curly maple rockers. The arched inner box stays in place with the help of rare earth magnets, and slides out for hidden storage. I milk painted on the stem / leaves and the Fleur De Lis designs. The plumb gauge is a solid brass bee hive that lends weight for a good swing when the piece is rocked. To fine tune the balance of the piece, the adjustable sliding brass outriggers weights can be slid up and down the arms. 17”W x 14”H x 5”D.
